Our Cabin in the trees was nestled in the woods on the edge of a hill over looking the ski slopes in the city of Moon Ridge in Big Bear Lake and became one of our more challenging builds. Not that is was difficult or large, but because we needed to build it among the trees. The lot was a nestled in 75+ year old pines, oaks and sycamore trees all designed to be part of the plan when built.
At only 1800 square feet, the floor plan was designed to capture the sweeping mountain views and surrounding ski slopes. Therefore designing a reverse floor plan with sleeping quarters on the 1st floor with kitchen and living on the 2nd. The 3 bedroom 3 bath house was drawn with a total of four large covered balconies three of which touch the upper limits of the surrounding trees. The upper floor consisted of open space living room, kitchen pool table area and wet bar.
The lower bedrooms had 10′ ceilings, big windows and a master suite with warm cozy fireplace and covered porch leading to the outs side. A great place for entertaining, when finally complete, the exterior was trimmed in farm house design elements to set the finishing touches.
